Nas - Untitled (ALBUM REVIEW)

Nas: Untitled

(5 out of 5 stars)
I know what you’re thinking. Oh, this is another review where the author decided it would not be representative of Nas if he didn’t get 5 stars and has nothing to do with the actual content of the album. Well, that could not be further from the truth. In fact, this is Nas’ best work since Illmatic and the The Lost Tapes and ranks a close third behind those two respectively. Nas, like so many times before, riddles every track (with the exception of “Fried Chicken”) with insight and attention to detail. His lyrics are both incredible and inspiring. “Black President” samples 2pac as the chorus rants “And though it seems Heaven sent/We ain’t ready to see a black president”. On any other album this would be the standout track, but Nas adds fuel to the fire with “Sly Fox”, “N***er”, and “You Can’t Stop Us Now”. On top of these great tracks, almost every song is filled with thought provoking rhymes and challenges you to stand up for what you believe in despite the impossible. Without a doubt, this is an improvement over Nas’ last studio release “Hip Hop is Dead”. Furthermore, if you are still reading this, you probably have waited too long to listen to the full album. Not only is this worth adding to your collection, but in my opinion, Nas’ self-titled disc is an instant classic.
